I have an enduring interest in light, manmade and natural, as it governs how we understand the things we see. Light and colour can have a transforming effect on an objects and buildings, changing our perception of form and scale. I have often used everyday objects such as drinking straws or table tennis balls for their translucent material or their colour, sometimes lit from within. The resulting installations offer a new way of seeing familiar things and revealing possibilities that lie dormant. More recently I’ve been able to light buildings and tunnels with the same approach, responding to the locations and collaborating with professional lighting teams to control light transitions and patterns.
